TIMBER CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

Timber finishes are hard and durable but not indestructible. Some simple care and maintenance will ensure that the product you have purchased performs satisfactorily.

Regular Care

Timber finishes will change tone over time. Lighter finishes can darken or yellow slightly and darker finishes may lighten. This process can be minimised by taking the following care precautions. Avoid placing timber furniture in direct sunlight or in very brightly lit rooms. Keep at least 30cm away from direct heat sources. Avoid conditions of high temperature and high humidity. Avoid surface contact with sharp or abrasive objects as these will leave irreparable scratches which are not covered by your warranty. Use protective coasters, cushioning bumpers or placemats under lamps, picture frames, ornaments and other accessory pieces to avoid scratching surfaces. Do not allow liquid to stand on surfaces. Mop up all spillages immediately.

Spot cleaning

Dust regularly clean soft dry cloth. For harder to remove soiling, dampen a clean soft cloth with warm soap water and wipe over the surface and wipe dry of remaining fluid immediately. Do not use abrasive, acidic, caustic or spirit cleaners as they will damage the surface and void your warranty.
If you have any doubt as to how to clean or care for your furniture or care for a specific incident involving your furniture, please refer to the store of purchase or seek professional advice.

EUCALYPTUS TIMBER CARE INSTRUCTION:

  1. Ensure all bolts are tightened periodically, as the harsh Australian climate will cause timber to expand and contract loosening the bolts.
  2. Avoid placing hot items directly on the tabletops as this could cause discolouration, always use a coaster or trivet.
  3. Do not allow liquid to stand on surface. Clean up all slippages immediately.
  4. Periodic cleaning of your eucalyptus furniture will help prevent mildew, spores with mould and general dirt from build-up. Wash with mild soap and water using a cloth or a soft plastic brush. Rinse well with water and dry with a clean cloth. Clean in the direction of the grain. Do not use a pressure cleaner as this will damage the wood.
  5. Over time, as the timber settle and weathers, natural expansion and contraction of the wood can result in small cracks or “checking” along the grain of the wood. This is part of the natural aging process of the timber. This does not affect the furniture structure or durability and is not a product fault.
  6. The timber has an outdoor polyurethane finish applied for protection. This will need to be re-applied every 12-18 months to maintain the protective finish. Consult your local hardware store to recommended as suitable product.
